My Own Boss

My Own Boss

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

Being my own boss is something I always thought I might do but I had no idea how it would actually come to fruition. I never had a ton of extra cash and it took me decades to figure out what I was good at but look at me now – I own my own graphic T-shirt company and I’m actually turning a profit! I’ve had to learn as I go about stuff like bank card processing and human resources and tax laws – you don’t learn about any of that stuff when you don’t go to college (and I’m not so sure you learn it in college, either!) but I think I’m pulling my weight and starting to feel more confident about being a good businessperson. I like having total control over what I put out there and my staff and I try really hard to be a god boss because I know how important it is to keep morale high and people interested in working for you! That’s why I finally struck out on my own!

Mike Coolbaugh And The Tulsa Drillers Tragedy

Of all the freakish things to happen in a sporting event, the tragic death of Tulsa Drillers first base coach Mike Coolbaugh has to right up there. The 32 year old had just recently started coaching for the team and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In case you hadn't heard, Coolbaugh was facing center field with a base runner on first base and was struck by a foul ball and died at the new Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, AR.

I just paid my first visit to the beautiful new stadium and ran the bases with my son after the game, never suspecting someone would die right next to first base only a couple of weeks later. It's a shame for anyone to die in such a way. Coolbaugh had kids and his wife is pregnant with another. That family should be in our thoughts and prayers.

The Bush Administration

Alberto Gonzales is still AG, Karl Rove thinks he's a rapper, Cheney is still an ass, the War in Iraq rages on with no end in sight. Anybody want to go back to Nov. 2000 and take a mulligan?

Ignor-Imus vs. Al Charlatan Steel Cage Match

I'm SO tired of all the Don Imus talk. Yes, the guy is a sleazy jerk. Has been for years. He looks like the sort who hangs around school yards in a trenchcoat. I would like to see one of those "steel cage", loser gets out of town WWE style wrestling matches with Ignor-Imus vs. the "Rev" Al Charlatan.
