Mariah Carey As A Country Singer?

You've got to be kidding. In the forthcoming movie, Tennessee, shot in Nashville, Mariah Carey plays an aspiring Country Singer fleeing her "controlling husband". Ms Carey co-wrote a song, "Right to Dream" with Willie Nelson and performed it with Bio Willie's harmonica player. Director Aaron Woodley said "people were weeping on the crew when she sang it". That bad, huh? What was that bomb she did earlier "All that Glitters"? What's next Britney Spears as a nun?

Have you gotten any of those annoying emails from The Scooter Store? I have, but with today's news, the term takes on a new meaning. I am referring to the conviction of Lewis "Scooter" Libbey in the Valerie Plame/CIA (or should we say CYA?) case. This verdict could have far-reaching implications. Libbey could be invited to go quail hunting with Dick Cheney before he reports for prison. Libbey, not Cheney, I mean, but stay tuned.

Annie (Coulter) Get Your Gun

At some right wing to do over the weekend, CPAC or something, Ann Coulter did it again. This time she has really stepped in it and then put her foot in her mouth as she is wont to do. If there's one group you don't insult in today's political climate without serious repercussions, that was the one. As is her custom, Annie Jokely took dead aim and shot herself right in the foot, but enough foot metaphors. Unless your a serious fetishist, three should suffice. Even the extreme right is running away from her now.

At the conference, Rudy Guiliani, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, collectively known as Rudy McRomney, had quite a contest to see who could out-pander the others in sucking up to the right wing Kingmakers of the GOP. None is a true conservative. Rudy is to the left of most Dems on social issues, Romney flipflops more than John Kerry ever thought about, and McCain is boot-licking the very wing of the GOP he used to denounce. Oops, I did it again. A foot reference, I mean, but that's another blog.

Bill O'Reilly and Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes

As I write this, I can just imagine a few right wingers climbing out on the ledge over O'Reilly's appearance on 60 minutes tonight. O'Reilly said he is: pro gun control, pro civil unions (not just for homosexuals he added), anti death penalty and other positions that are not typical for Republicans. It's not O'Reilly's views that irritate me, it's his manner and the way he bullies guests on his show.
